Canned salmon is great for a salad:
1 can red salmon
3 hard-boiled eggs, diced
1 1/2 cup diced celery
3/4 cup Miracle Whip
1/3 cup sugar
1/2 cup sweet pickle relish, with juice
Drain salmon. Remove skin and bones. Mix well Miracle Whip, sugar and pickle. Add salmon, eggs and celery to Miracle Whip mixture, and mix well. Chill and serve cold.
Or sandwich:
15 ounces canned salmon
1/3 cup plain nonfat yogurt
1/3 cup chopped green onions
1/3 cup chopped celery
1 tablespoon lemon juice
Black pepper to taste
12 slices bread
Drain and flake salmon. Stir in yogurt, green onions, celery and lemon juice. Season with pepper to taste. Spread salmon mixture on half of bread slices; top with remaining bread. Cut sandwiches into halves or quarters.Recipes for using canned salmon?
I love mixing it as you would tuna with mayo, mustard , finely chopped onions and garlic, finely chopped dill.I love sandwiches maed with this with cheese grilled! YUM!
I have also used it it omelets, and have used it instead of crab in crab cakes...Really yummy!
My son loves to eat it out of the can with BBQ sauce on it.
(really, it isn't that bad!)
How ironic!! I cook it for my grown boys about once a year and I did it today!
Drain it, pull out the little grissel parts. Add an egg and cracker crumbs. Make into patties and fry in hot oil. The cracker crumbs give them all the salt they need.
I enjoy Salmon Croquettes, though it is best made with newer style of canned salmon that do not contain skin or pin bones.
Very tasty!
